Happy Easter Blue Class

Hello Blue Class,

Well, we certainly timed the start of the Easter holidays perfectly with this gorgeous sunshine! We hope you have been able to get out and about in the fresh air to enjoy it.

Well done for another great half term where we enjoyed learning about The Golden Age of Baghdad and Easter and performing to your parents to welcome in Spring. You have continued to work with enthusiasm and great care and effort and it was lovely to share your books during parent consultations to see the progress you are making.

'Globe Trotters' is our new topic when we return where another award winning text and new challenging but exciting learning await us alongside the opportunity to revisit previous knowledge and skills to help you become confident and competent learners.

Have a well deserved rest over the holiday but also try and find time to work on your targets that were sent home including regular reading and times table practise. Doing this a little and often will make a big difference and help you make further progress next term.

We look forward to seeing you on Monday 17th April when our bell boating adventures begin! We will send a ParentApp message nearer the time with a few reminders of what you need to bring and wear.

Have a lovely Easter break and fingers crossed this sunshine lasts. Keep safe and have fun!

Love from Miss Townsend and Miss Kuriger x

Happy Half Term Blue Class

Well done Blue Class for another successful half term during which you continued to work hard with resilience and enthusiasm. We kicked off 2023 with an exciting 'Build a Business' topic where you created your own 'Little Blackwell Bakery' business. Working as a team, you designed and made a variety of delicious bread, took orders with great confidence over the phone and raised lots of money for a local foodbank. You should feel very proud you have helped families who may be finding things tricky at the moment showing what caring and thoughtful citizens you are growing into. A big thank you must also go to your families who supported your 'Little Blackwell Bakery' business.

Today ended our 'Our World' topic where we enjoyed reading stories from other cultures, created a class piece of textile artwork for our main entrance and learned all about the Hindu faith. Our trip to the Hindu temple this week was certainly a fascinating one particularly being able to observe many rituals and seeing artefacts and hearing stories learned about in school. Visiting such a place, for many of us, was very different and new but the respect and curiosity shown by all of you was noted by our guide and other visitors there. It has also been lovely to hear from many of your parents how much knowledge you have shared with them following this trip. These experiences are important in helping you to understand how diverse our local area is and how such diversity helps make our community and wider world an interesting place to live.

It has been a busy and hardworking half term so you deserve a well earned rest next week. Enjoy time at home or away, with lots of time to rest and play. A little bit of reading and times table practice would be really helpful too so that you continue where you left off when you return. We look forward to seeing you on Monday 27th February where we will travel back in time to 900 AD and have another dilemma to solve together!

Be safe, helpful and kind and we'll see you all soon.

Happy Christmas

Well done Blue Class for a great end of term. Your performances in The Nutcracker were fantastic and I think your grown ups were blown away by how amazing you were! You certainly led the way as Year 4s with great singing, dancing, narrating and acting and I think we gave the Royal Birmingham Ballet a run for their money!

We’ve certainly shared a lot of exciting learning this half term including making The Willow Pattern story sacks for our Yellow Class friends, solving dilemmas about libraries, discovering how the digestive system works and exploring and discussing famous Christmas paintings. And what a lovely end to the term today with a brilliant panto, a sneaky mince pie treat from Mrs Garner and fun party games! You've all been stars and have made it really enjoyable for the adults too.

We hope you all have a lovely Christmas and enjoy having fun and lots of rest with your family. Thank you so much for the very kind gifts and messages. It is very kind and generous of you.

Only nine more sleeps to go so keep being patient and keep safe and warm.
