Half term news
Dear Families,
We hope you are having a super half term and have had a good rest after a very long first half term. We are incredibly proud of how well the children have settled into Green Class and we look forward to another busy term in the run up to Christmas. Highlights for us included our memory café where we were visited by Victor and residents from Burcot Grange to share their memories of WW2 and in the last week of the half term children represented themselves and the school excellently at the Bromsgrove Multiskills Festival.
Our next topic is Blackwell Bear Travels and his first destination is….. India! If you wanted to do any research over the weekend, you can share it with us next week after we spend the first day learning about the history of Bonfire Night. Please make sure you have picked up your reading book and we look forward to see you on Monday. Forest School continues for group 5 on Monday so please wear jogging bottoms and (named) winter essentials.

Welcome
Welcome to Green Class to all our families. The children have made a fantastic start to the new term and it’s hard to believe they’ve only been in for 3 days. They have learnt new routines well and have been very happy. A class newsletter will be posted next week with more details of the learning taking place over the next half term but we wanted to take this opportunity to tell you about a few things:
Forest School takes place for Groups 3 and 4 on Fridays and Group 5 on Mondays (children should know which group they are but don’t worry if they have forgotten)
PE takes place on Tuesdays (usually) so please tie long hair up.
Our new topic is ‘Britain at War’ and we are researching what life was like for children in Blackwell and further afield during World War 2. The children have really enjoyed the start of the topic, asking brilliant questions and being very engaged as we have investigated sources. The children have also created some thoughtful artwork of what they would put in their suitcase if they were an evacuee.
We are really looking forward to working with you all this year and are excited to see how the children grow as individuals and as learners. Please come and talk to us if there is anything you are unsure about.
Have a great weekend (the children are very tired) and we look forward to seeing you on Monday.
Mrs James, Miss Turner and Miss Gardner x
