Super Stars!
Well done Blue Class for your wonderful Off to Scotland assembly on Thursday. Your singing, retelling, musical skills, speaking and dancing were all fantastic and I know your families were truly entertained and had a lovely morning sharing in your learning. I was very proud of you all.
We start a new 'Special Places' topic tomorrow which will last for two weeks. For homework, I would like you to have a really good focus on developing your reading skills and times table recall. Spend at least 10 minutes each night on both of these things and you will really notice the difference in your progress. Ask your grown ups to ask you questions from your laminated reading card when you read and talk to them about any tricky words or concepts that you come across to develop your understanding of language. In school, we are focusing on the 8 times table at the moment (particularly 8 x 6, 8 x 7, 8 x 8, 8 x 9 and 8 x 12). Learning them by heart (memorising them) is the aim and not counting on your fingers to get the answers. If you are secure with these facts (can recall them in 3-5 seconds), move onto the 6 times table which we will be learning after half term.
Enjoy the rest of the weekend my super stars and I'll see you in the morning.
