Where the Wild Things Are

Well done for a super school trip today. Thank you to all the grown ups who helped the children to learn and to stay safe and thank you children for behaving beautifully and for representing your school so well.

First, we shared “Where the Wild Things Are” and used picture cards to sequence the story. Next, we ventured into the forest to take part in a treasure hunt. We searched for picture cards and ordered them in small groups of 3. You worked well together and enjoyed hunting for the cards.

Then, we played rhythms on sticks and danced in the willow tunnels.  Just before lunch, we made our own wild things from clay and natural materials. We will display your clay wild things at school and send them home later in the term.

After Mrs Barker’s delicious sandwiches, we enjoyed a forest school session. We created boats from ropes and sheets, searched for minibeasts and newts and made ‘delicious’ dishes in the mud kitchen. It was a busy, sunny and enjoyable day.

You should all sleep well tonight…including the grown ups!
