A happy Christmas Purple Class!

Hello children...

By now hopefully you've had a little rest after a busy last week of term. I wanted to say a big well done to all of you for your wonderful Christmas performances - I was very proud to watch you all singing and dancing so confidently without any help from the teachers. You were very professional. I have a copy of the DVD which my grandma is looking forward to watching over Christmas! A big thank you too for all of your Christmas gifts and goodies - very kind and very much appreciated.

Over the holidays please keep reading and enjoying a book so that we stay ahead with our learning. Also, practise your two times table so you can say the multiplication and the division facts quickly and out of order. This is good to help with our doubles too.

When we start school again after the holidays we'll begin a 'Roald Dahl' topic. I know many of you will be very excited about this! In the first few days we'll be reading some stories and listening to them too. I wonder if any of you watched the new BFG film at the cinema recently...that is still showing in some cinemas and you will probably enjoy it as much as I did!

Perhaps you'd like to read a Roald Dahl book over the holidays...I wonder what your favourite one is. What makes Roald Dahl a super author? We can talk about our ideas when we're back together again.

Have a good rest of the holiday and see you in 2017!

Miss Kuriger :)

Over the next two weeks, your homework is to practise your 2 times table so that you know it by heart in any order and to enjoy lots of reading.

Love from Miss Kuriger :)

A super end to the topic!

Hello Purple Class.

I just wanted to tell you again how fantastic I thought you all were today at our Indian Festival. I know that all of the grown ups that came were very impressed with all of your learning and enjoyed watching your Indian dance in particular.

A big well done to all of you!

The end of our first half term!

Hello Purple Class.

Can you believe we have completed one half term? There are 3 terms in a school year...so that makes 6 half terms. We have completed one out of six so that's one sixth of Purple class complete. Five sixths left to go so still plenty of learning time to enjoy together.

I have been so impressed at how much progress you have made this term already. You have worked very hard and have achieved very well. I am pleased that Purple team are growing up into the new challenges of year 2.

Have a wonderful half term break. Remember to keep reading and practising the 2, 5 and 10 counting patterns. This will help you to be ready for when we return.

Our new topic will be 'A Taste of India' - if you'd like to research and find out something interesting about India, then you can share your learning when we return to school. You can present your learning however you like.

See you soon,

Miss Kuriger :)

Our Owl Friends

Hello Purple Class,

Just to say how impressed I am at how well you are looking after our little bird friends the last few weeks. Plop the owl and his dad, Mr Barn Owl, arrived with our new class story at the start of this topic.

They have both enjoyed visiting your homes and you have helped them to record their adventures really well in their diaries. I can't believe they have had so much fun - 3 birthday parties over the weekend, flying lessons, bath time, beavers...all sorts of excitement!

Thank you to all mums and dads who have also hosted our cuddly owls, and for providing some excellent photographs. If you do have photographs but are unable to print them, then please email them to school and I will print them out.

For those of you who have not yet hosted our friends, your name could be next out of the jar!

Keep up the good work.

A super trip!

A great big Roman thumbs up to all of Purple and Yellow Class for such great learning and behaviour today. I hope you enjoyed your visit to Chedworth Roman Villa as much as I did.

The teachers at the centre said you were a credit to the school and they were extremely impressed with how sensible and grown up you were.

I have got plenty of photographs from today which I will show at our Grand Opening tomorrow. How exciting. I look forward to seeing lots of your grown ups and letting them know how well you have settled in. They can see lots of your learning too.

Miss Kuriger :)

This week...

Hello Purple Class.

Well done for settling in so well this term and for showing me such great learning skills. We will be able to learn a lot together this year.

This week is particularly busy for us. On Tuesday we are going to visit a real Roman Villa. How exciting! When I was a little girl and I was in first school I went on this visit too. I'm sure we will have lots of fun learning more about the Romans.

On Wednesday evening is our exciting 'Grand Opening'. All of the grown ups will get to see the learning you have been busy with and we'll be able to show them our lovely new learning space too.

See you tomorrow.

Miss Kuriger :)

Hello Purple Class

Hi Purple Class children!

I think our classroom is looking lovely, but is missing something...you! I hope you are feeling rested and ready for a good start to the new school year.

In the first few days we will be starting our learning about the Romans. If you would like to do some learning at home over the weekend, then that would be great. Perhaps you could make a poster, or complete a piece of artwork - bring it in on Monday if you would like to show it to the class.

I have lots of exciting activities planned for us this term so I am looking forward to seeing you next week.

Miss Kuriger :)
