Nursery News ~ 28th September 2018

Happy Friday! How lovely the weather has been this week – what a difference to last week!

Indoors, during Circle Time, we have been:

·         Continuing with our Listening Game “A Good Listener is looking at the person talking”.  A favourite this week was “Who is hiding under the blanket”?  You all giggled when we chose a grown up to hide and you had to work out who had gone.  We have applied this skill all week with looking for our name and matching/sticking onto our picture.

·         Phonics – this week we have been using loud and quiet sounds to find a missing Minion.  Being able to hear loud and quiet sounds and using them to locate an object is a game you could play at home.

·         Maths – we have been learning about the number 3.  We have looked at the pattern of Numicon Three, Egg Box Three and Dice Three.  We have been singing songs with three in, telling stories with three in and “moving them all around” to show we still have three.  Can you teach the “Three in a row” song to your family this weekend?

·         Nursery Rhyme – “Polly put the Kettle on”.  We had fun changing the names of the characters to our own names.  This has really helped you to get to know your new friend’s names.

·         Write Dance – we have moved on to our Kringeli Krangeli tune this week and have been twisting our wrists to help strengthen our muscles.  Next week, we will be drawing to the music with some KringelI Krangeli patterns.

Outdoors, we have:

·         In our story area, Mrs Allen has been sharing the story of the Three Billy Goats Gruff and it has been lovely to see you all choosing to do this on your own during “Play and Explore”

·         Opened up the Building Area – Mrs Allen has been showing you lots of ways to build a shelter for the troll.  You have learnt how to move the large sticks around safely to keep everyone safe.

·         “1, 2, 3 Where Are You?” – a new favourite hide and seek game around the Forest School.

A quick reminder – Blackwell Forest School club runs in the afternoon daily for the rest of the school.  They return to the Boot Room around 2.50pm and so we need to ensure these are all safely off the ramp before we allow Nursery parents to come up onto the balcony.  If you do arrive before 3pm for collection, please refrain from pressing the buzzer if you can see these children lining up on the ramp.  As soon as they have left, we can release the gate.  Thanks for your help with this.

Have a lovely lovely weekend – fingers crossed the sun continues to shine!
