Green Class News

Hello Green Class,

I hope you're enjoying the long weekend and the sun! Remember to tell me about your 'best book' on the School Wall. Well done to the children who received a gold book award on Friday for their hard work on the School Wall.

On Tuesday ('art day') we will spend the day exploring collage skills through the work of Matisse and Riley. If you run out of things to do on Monday you could find Bridget Riley's image called 'Fall' and create your own picture in her style. This is just an idea, it's not extra homework!

See you Tuesday,

Mrs Webb :)

Easter Celebration morning

Dear Parents,

If you are unable to attend Wednesday morning's Easter Celebration and you would still like your child to have refreshments, please send £1 in to school with them on the day. They will be able to enjoy the refreshments with a member of staff unless there is another parent (in the same time slot) who you would like them to join. Please let us know if this is the case.

Many thanks.

Happy Half Term

Happy half term Green Class! You have worked very hard so far this term and I am very pleased and proud of your progress. You deserve a good rest!

Before half term we completed a short topic on Christianity with a particular focus on baptism. Our project was to make a wall hanging to share our learning about the symbols and rituals of baptism. This project also helped to showcase your art skills: exploring dip dye, making relief printing blocks and printing on fabric. You will find your wall hanging in the extension when you return to school but until then here's a photo...

Thank you to those families who donated their tubs for the dip dye!

Have a lovely half term Green Class,

Oh and remember to dress like a pirate on the first day back. I'm looking forward to seeing your outfits! Now, where did I put my pirate hat?

Love Mrs Webb xxx

A call for containers!

Hello Green Class,

If you have any spare plastic margarine or ice cream tubs at home please send them into school this week for Art. Your containers will be used to dye small pieces of fabric. During the week we will learn new skills to make a wall hanging for our classroom. I'm very excited and I have my apron ready!!! I look forward to seeing you tomorrow.
Thank you

Mrs Webb xxx

Year 1 Gymnastics Festival

Dear Green Class,

Next week (Wednesday, 22nd January) Year 1 will be attending a gymnastics festival at St John's Middle School in Bromsgrove. Please see the school office if you have not received a letter. Year 2 children (from both Green and Yellow) will take part in a different sporting event later in the year. More details will follow nearer the time.

If you would like any further information, please do not hesitate to see me after school on Monday. I hope you all have a lovely weekend.

Theatre Trip

Just a reminder that all children need to bring a packed lunch with them tomorrow (preferably in a plastic bag) with a couple of drinks.

Thank you.

Happy Christmnas

Hello Green Class,
Well done for your part in the Christmas play and for your hard work this term. Have a good Christmas break and I look forward to seeing you all in January.
Love from
Mrs Moss x x

Dear Children,
You will have a sheet of song words to practise for the next two weeks so that you are ready for our Christmas Service.
Have a good practise and delight your grown ups by singing to them.

Reading Reminder

Dear Green Class Families,

Earlier this week I sent home a keyword list to help the children to increase the number of words they can read on sight. If you did not receive this list please see me after school on Monday.

The children should read for 10 minutes daily as this has a significant impact on reading progress. Please sign the reading diary when you've heard your child read so we can check this vital piece of homework is being completed.

Many thanks

Mrs Webb, Mrs Fox and Mrs Price

Dear Children,
Jasmine, Dylan and Isobel, who are chicken carers, have chosen the names for our new chickens.
Thank you to everyone who submitted ideas. They were all great.
We have chosen:
1. Black Beauty for the black chicken (named by Erin and Jake);
2. Coco for the brown, speckled chicken (named by Darcey); and
3. Yvette for the brown chicken (named by Lilia).
Yvette has the same name as a chicken in the book 'Mr Chicken goes to Paris' and Lilia met Leigh Hobbs the author of the book and her inspiration for the name came from this book.
We hope you enjoy meeting the chickens soon!

Brilliant in Birmingha

Well done Green Class! You were super in Birmingham today with good manners and behaviour.
We toured the discovery terrace at the Library of Birmingham and looked out across Centenary Square before sharing a story in the children's library. We then took a short walk to the art gallery, stopping to look at the buildings and squares of the city centre. After our walk, we looked for special places in the art gallery and found a landscape painting of Harborne. After lunch we completed a quiz in the museum where we discovered lots of artefacts telling us the story of Birmingham. What a busy day! A great start to our Special Places topic.
Tomorrow I will tell you all about the project you will be working towards. Here's a clue - children like to play these, particularly on rainy days!
Well done and keep up the good work,
Mrs Webb :)
