Green Class News

Last Day

Hello Team Green,

Wow! What a year! We've had so many highlights including a fantastic visit from Florence, a brilliant trip to Birmingham, a perfect Pirate Day, super sporting trips and your amazing class assembly! It has been a privilege to watch you grow personally, socially and academically this year. Of course, it wouldn't have been possible without the support of Mrs Fox and Mrs Price who have worked extremely hard to make Green Class a fantastic place to learn.

I wish you all good luck in Year 2 and Year 3. Keep working hard on your handwriting and keyword spelling (search for your keyword sheet over the holidays) and make sure you pop by to see me and my little ones in Red Class in September.

Maths Homework

Hello Green Class,

If you usually request Maths homework,  please collect a sheet on Monday (A Day in the Life of a Spaceman). Remember you could complete a school wall activity for your homework rather than using your homework book.

See you tomorrow,

Mrs Webb :)

On the Moon

Hello Green Class,

Your new topic is 'On the Moon' and all of your learning will lead to a class assembly. Your homework will be sent out at the end of the week. One of the suggested activities is to perform a poem for the assembly. Here are the words:

The Man in the Moon

Without any warning

The man in the moon

Dropped into our school

At around about noon.

You may not believe me

But I have the proof

There's a man-in-the-moon

Shaped hole in the roof!

Remember to speak in a clear, audible voice so that your audience can hear. If possible use the actions we have started to learn at school. Finally, look at your audience and smile!

Sports Day

Hello Green Class,

Well done for a fantastic sports day! Australia won the trophy but the scores were very close!  For taking part you were awarded a sports day bowl made by Yellow Class as part of their 3D art. Our clay medals were presented to Red Class at the end of the day.

Did you know you were active for 2 and a half hours today! I feel tired just thinking about it! You all tried your best to work as part of a team and to improve your personal best during the track events. Finally, I was really proud to see such good sportsmanship as I walked around the field today.  Well done Green Class and well done to our friends in Red, Yellow and Blue.

See you Monday,

Mrs Webb x

National School Sports Week

Hello Green Class,

Next week is National School Sports Week so please ensure you have your PE kit, a sun hat, sun cream and a water bottle in school all week. Every day you will be taking part in different sporting competitions and activities in addition to your usual PE lessons and wake and shake. Remember, Thursday 26th June  is Sports Day where we warmly welcome your families to cheer you down the race track and to support each team event at our 'World Cup' themed event. Do you think England will still be playing football by then?

Well done to the Year 2 children who participated in the OAA event at Crown Meadow First School. You couldn't wait to tell me how much you enjoyed the event and you represented our school in an excellent manner.

See you all next week for a fantastic week of sport,

Mrs Webb :)

Year 2 Orienteering

Hello Year 2 Families,

Just a quick reminder about our orienteering morning tomorrow. Please can you make sure that the children have their PE kits, a packed lunch, a snack, sun hat and water bottles.

With thanks,

Mrs Yeomans

Farmer's market

Just a reminder that Blue and Green Classes will be running an organic farmer's market on the playground this Thursday at 2.45pm - 3.15pm. There will be plants and tasty treats for you to buy.

PE on Monday

Hello Green Class,

I hope you're enjoying the holidays! It's PE on Monday so please remember your kit (including jogging bottoms and spare socks because the weather likes to change quite a lot). If you have a pair of trainers please add them to your kit. We will be taking part in lots of team games and races this half term. Remember to add a label to your trainers so they are easy to return.

Remember to use the School Wall. I have added a number bonds game for you to play. Post a comment to let me know which number bonds you've been practising and what you think of the game. I've also posted an activity about our new topic, 'Food and Farming'. Once I've read and checked your posts they will appear on the School Wall. I wonder who will be the first to post?

Have a great weekend and I'll see you all on Monday (with your PE kits).

Take care,

Mrs Webb :)

Voices and Visions

For all children who are taking part in Voices and Visions at Worcester Cathedral on Monday 9th June, due to only one ticket per child being allocated, we welcome other family members who are unable to attend to watch our dress rehearsal in the school hall on Friday 6th June at 3.15pm.

Many thanks.

School Wall

Hello Green Class,

What a fantastic half term! You have worked hard to write stories, share your best books, create a wave collage for our display and make a sail! After the holiday your floor book will be sent home to each family to share all of this wonderful learning. Well done team green!

I hope you have a lovely holiday and make sure you check the School Wall as I have added 2 new activities for you. Remember you can collect stars if you post a comment.

Mrs Webb :)

Hello Green Class,

I hope you're enjoying the long weekend and the sun! Remember to tell me about your 'best book' on the School Wall. Well done to the children who received a gold book award on Friday for their hard work on the School Wall.

On Tuesday ('art day') we will spend the day exploring collage skills through the work of Matisse and Riley. If you run out of things to do on Monday you could find Bridget Riley's image called 'Fall' and create your own picture in her style. This is just an idea, it's not extra homework!

See you Tuesday,

Mrs Webb :)

Easter Celebration morning

Dear Parents,

If you are unable to attend Wednesday morning's Easter Celebration and you would still like your child to have refreshments, please send £1 in to school with them on the day. They will be able to enjoy the refreshments with a member of staff unless there is another parent (in the same time slot) who you would like them to join. Please let us know if this is the case.

Many thanks.

Happy Half Term

Happy half term Green Class! You have worked very hard so far this term and I am very pleased and proud of your progress. You deserve a good rest!

Before half term we completed a short topic on Christianity with a particular focus on baptism. Our project was to make a wall hanging to share our learning about the symbols and rituals of baptism. This project also helped to showcase your art skills: exploring dip dye, making relief printing blocks and printing on fabric. You will find your wall hanging in the extension when you return to school but until then here's a photo...

Thank you to those families who donated their tubs for the dip dye!

Have a lovely half term Green Class,

Oh and remember to dress like a pirate on the first day back. I'm looking forward to seeing your outfits! Now, where did I put my pirate hat?
